Bike Fitting

Improve Your Comfort & Performance

One of the amazing things about being human is how adaptable our bodies are. We’re capable of doing all kinds of physical activities—and with the right support, we can get even better at the ones we love. Cycling is a great example. It requires strength, mobility, and endurance from the rider, along with a properly set-up bike. When both the rider and the bike are working in sync, you’re able to experience greater comfort, better efficiency, and more fun on two wheels.

At Gravelo Workshop, we’re proud to offer in-house bike fitting services with our longtime team member, Lyle Mitchell. Outside of working at the shop, Lyle is a physical therapist assistant, personal trainer, and kettlebell coach. With over 20 years of cycling experience and more than a decade of coaching movement, he brings a well-rounded approach that looks at how you move both on and off the bike.

During the fitting session, Lyle will also recommend mobility or strength exercises to help you feel better and ride stronger. Lyle will also take the time to explain his approach and address your questions so you leave feeling more confident in how your body and bike work together.

Meet Our Bike Fitter

Lyle Mitchell fell in love with cycling at 18, when he moved out on his own and had to start commuting by bike. Since landing his first bike shop job back in 2006, he’s kept a foot in the industry, mostly as a way to subsidize his expensive bike habit. Over the years, he’s raced in everything from alley cats to adventure races, with road, mountain, and gravel events also in the mix.

When he’s not on two wheels, you’ll probably find Lyle climbing, out for a run, or just finding new ways to move. Staying active and staying curious about movement is one of his largest drivers in life.

Fit Today, Fitter Tomorrow

Keep in mind that bike fitting isn’t a one-and-done deal. Your bike fit is a snapshot of your current level of mobility, strength, and optimal position. As your body changes, your fit may need to change too. That’s why we include a follow-up session to fine-tune things.

In addition to bike fitting, Lyle offers personalized strength and mobility training—either in-person or remotely—to help you stay consistent and make real progress toward your goals.

Step 1:

Each fitting begins with a conversation about your cycling goals, what’s working, and what’s not.

Then, our fitter will assess how your body functions off the bike by taking you through a strength & mobility screening.

Step 2:

Our fitter will guide you through a step-by-step process on the bike to assess and adjust your bike fit, starting from the feet and working our way up the body.

Each touchpoint will be dialed in based on your current mobility and riding style, optimizing for comfort and performance.

Step 3:

Once we've achieved an optimal position, our fitter will take note of measurements of saddle height, setback, and tilt, as well as handlebar drop and reach.

We add these measurements to your customer profile so that our service department can easily reference them for future bike service.

Wrap it up!

The initial bike fitting session takes about two hours and includes a follow-up session, if needed, to refine your fit and ensure lasting comfort and performance.
