Bakery Ride B Group

Saturdays at 9:30am
Gravelo Workshop to Marshall, NC

What? A slightly modified version of the traditional City Bakery Ride route. 53 miles and 3900' of climbing on road. Route link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44019427

When? Saturday mornings, the ride rolls out at 9:30am.*

Gravelo's doors will open at 9am for your pre-ride needs: coffee, energy bars, water-fill station, restroom, etc.

*Year-round, though the start time may be pushed later during the winter months if the forecasted temperature profile favors a later start

Where? Start from Gravelo Workshop at 793 Merrimon Ave, Asheville, NC, 28804. Parking is available in the lot (just not along the building, please) or at Wells Fargo across the street.

How? "B Group" pace

  • The objective: Keep the group together, pace lining for the draft advantage on the flatter terrain. If stronger climbers want to go harder up the many climbs, they are welcome to do so but should sit up/stop at the top or safely circle back to bring the last riders up. (This is to avoid having folks taking risks trying to catch up on descents.)

  • Nominally a No Drop ride, but if riders are tailing off too much, they may need to find their way around the course themselves. We suggest anyone unfamiliar with the route have the courses loaded onto their device or printed out.

  • Store stop at "On Your Bike" in Marshall (coffee, soft drinks, energy drinks/bars, water & ice, bike service & supplies, and restrooms).

  • Fast, smooth paceline back up the river to Woodfin/Asheville/Gravelo (may be overtaken by the "A" group, so be prepared to latch on)

Note: For anyone who gets dropped or wants a shorter ride, there's a 'shortcut' bypassing the Early's mountain climb that shortens the route to Marshall by ~5 miles (and 400' climbing). See the RWGPS route "Bakery B Ride @Gravelo minus Early's": https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44019607.
